Tremron Construction in San Bruno, CA | San Mateo Construction
We install and repair Tremron pavers, retaining wall block, and segmental wall systems across San Bruno and provide Tremron repair in Pacifica, including paver driveways, patios, and hardscape features. What makes our Tremron work different here is that we read the ground first: San Bruno’s fog belt on one side of the 280/El Camino divide and the sunnier flats on the other change how Tremron block behaves, and we build to that. If you need Tremron work diagnosed, repaired, or installed right, call Noel Carrington’s team at San Mateo Construction at (855) 901-7266 for a free estimate.
Why San Bruno Residents Choose Us for Tremron Service
We came up in this trade the long way. Our owner, Noel Carrington, grew up in the Baywood neighborhood of San Mateo and studied construction technology at Skyline College right here in San Bruno, then spent close to three decades running residential and light commercial jobs across San Mateo County. That matters when you’re setting Tremron block on a graded hillside or laying pavers over post-war tract fill, because he’s the one standing on your lot reading the slope and the drainage before we ever order product.
We’re an independent Tremron installer. That’s worth being direct about: we don’t hold a manufacturer authorization, and we won’t tell you we do. We buy Tremron Olde Towne pavers, Mega-Olde Towne wall block, and Coventry pavers through licensed supply yards, and our loyalty sits with the subgrade, the drainage, and the wall engineering behind the job. For San Bruno homeowners, that means we’ll tell you when a failing wall is a block problem, a base problem, or a water problem, and we’ll fix the actual cause rather than selling you a teardown you don’t need. See our Tremron sales & service page for how we handle the full line.

Common Tremron Construction Problems We Solve in San Bruno
- Fog-belt efflorescence and joint sand washout. On the San Bruno Mountain side, damp marine air keeps Tremron pavers wet for long stretches, and calcium carbonate blooms white across the surface while polymeric sand sloughs out of the joints within a couple of seasons. We re-compact, re-sand, and where drainage is the real culprit, fix that first.
- Retaining-wall face spalling from moisture cycling. The fog side saturates Tremron block, then the dry spells bake it out. That cycling causes spalling and loosening on terraced walls up toward San Bruno Mountain far faster than on the sunny flats. We rebuild with clean drainage stone and geogrid so water exits instead of lingering against the face.
- Base and drainage settlement on graded slopes. Water logged behind hillside retaining walls pushes Tremron block out of batter. On sloped driveways, a poorly compacted base causes paver rutting and upheaval within a few seasons. We over-excavate, re-engineer the base, and set the wall on drainable fill.
- Differential settlement over clay and fill. On the flats, the post-war tract lots and the post-2010 Crestmoor rebuilds have very different subsoil behavior. Pavers laid over a shallow base there will crack joints and dip as the ground settles. We test the subgrade and adjust our base depth to what’s actually under the pavers.
- Block and paver heave from trapped water. Where gutters empty too close to a patio or a planter traps runoff against a wall, Tremron pavers heave and block leans. We find the water path first, then correct the hardscape, because adding new block to a wet mess just repeats the problem.
Tremron Service in San Bruno: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
San Bruno is a city that got reshaped twice: once by the fog off San Bruno Mountain, and once by the 2010 PG&E pipeline explosion that leveled a whole Crestmoor neighborhood. The rebuilds there went up on regraded lots and engineered footings, so Tremron pavers and retaining walls on those flats now sit over fill that behaves nothing like the older tract lots a block away. That’s the block-by-block reality in San Bruno. On the mountain side, persistent fog and slope drainage mean retaining walls and paver bases fail far faster than they do on the sunnier Bay-facing flats. On the Crestmoor rebuild lots, the fill settles differently than the native clay along Rollingwood or Bayhill. A contractor who does not know which side of 280 your home sits on will miss the diagnosis before they ever pull a paver. We do not. Call our San Bruno service area for a ground-read specific to your block.
Tremron Models & Products We Service in San Bruno
We work across the Tremron lines most often spec’d in San Bruno: Olde Towne pavers, Mega-Olde Towne wall block, Coventry pavers, and Tremron Canyon/Cobble segmental retaining wall systems. We source genuine Tremron block, caps, and pavers through licensed supply yards, and pair them with quality drainage aggregate, geogrid, and polymeric joint sand, not the cheapest fill on the shelf. For repair work, we stock common Tremron replacement pieces locally for faster San Bruno turnaround; odd lots and full new-hardscape orders come straight from the supply yard. If a wall or hardscape is failing because of base or drainage rather than the block itself, we repair and re-engineer instead of replacing sound product.

FAQs – Tremron Construction in San Bruno
The white staining is efflorescence from calcium carbonate, and it is common on the San Bruno Mountain fog side because damp marine air keeps the pavers wet. The joint sand washes out for the same reason: continual moisture plus drainage running toward the hardscape. We fix the drainage path, re-compact the base as needed, and re-sand with quality polymeric joint sand. Call (855) 901-7266 for a diagnosis and quote; estimates are free.
Yes, when it’s built right. The key on a fog-side slope is drainage behind the block and geogrid reinforcement, because saturated backfill pushes the wall out of batter. We pulled a failed Tremron segmental wall on a hillside street up toward the mountain and rebuilt it with geogrid, a perforated drain, and clean drainage stone, then relaid the Olde Towne pavers above on fresh base. The wall now sheds water in the way the original never did.
They do. The rebuild lots in Crestmoor were regraded with engineered fill, and that fill settles differently than the native clay under older tract lots. Laying pavers there over a standard shallow base cracks joints and dips within a few seasons. We check the subgrade on every Crestmoor job and increase base depth or compaction where the fill demands it. For an exact scope call (855) 901-7266; the estimate is free.
Look at the face first. Spalling block, bulging out of batter, or leaning means the wall is holding water, not shedding it. If the block itself is intact and the failure is drainage or backfill, we repair and rebuild the wall structure. We replace block only when the Tremron pieces themselves are cracked through or too spalled to keep water out. That judgment call is exactly the kind of thing worth having us walk before you pay for a teardown.
We handle both. We install and repair Tremron paver driveways, paver patios, and retaining and segmental wall systems across San Bruno, plus Tremron in South San Francisco, and we also take on the tile and flooring that often ties in around the hardscape. One crew, one contract. Call (855) 901-7266 and tell us what you actually need, and we’ll figure out the right way to build it.
