Cambria Construction in Mission District, CA | San Mateo Construction

We provide independent Cambria quartz countertop installation, templating, and repair throughout the Mission District’s 94110 zip code. What makes our Cambria work different here comes down to one thing: the Mission’s pre-1906 Victorians and Edwardians are never square, never level, and never stop moving. We template for that reality on every job, because we’ve seen what happens when a fabricator treats a Mission Victorian like it was built last year. Call (855) 901-7266 for a free estimate on Cambria countertops, islands, or backsplashes anywhere in the Mission District. You can also see our full Cambria sales & service overview for the wider Bay Area.

Why Mission District Residents Choose Us for Cambria Service

We’ve templated Cambria through enough Mission District kitchens to know how the slabs read against the neighborhood’s south-facing light, and how the material behaves in hundred-year-old buildings that have settled, shifted, and been retrofitted more than once. While we’re primarily a Mission District General Contractor, our work extends to other neighborhoods as well. We’re an independent fabricator and installer; we work with Cambria products on our own account, not as a Cambria-authorized dealer or partner. That independence means we recommend what actually works for your building, not what a manufacturer program tells us to push.

Noel Carrington, our owner, grew up pouring concrete footings in San Mateo and has spent three decades framing, leveling, and finishing residential work across the Bay Area. He’s the one who insists we re-check cabinet elevation after any seismic work on a Mission building before we cut a single slab. That’s the kind of thing that separates a tight Cambria seam from a hairline crack six months later.

Common Cambria Construction Problems We Solve in Mission District

  • Seam separation where slabs meet out-of-plumb Victorian walls. Older Mission buildings rarely have a wall that’s within a half-inch of true. If the template doesn’t account for that, the seam opens up once seasonal wood movement kicks in. We dry-lay and re-check against the actual wall, not the cabinet line.
  • Etching and dulling around undermount sinks. South-facing Mission kitchens get hard sun for much of the year, and hard-water spotting plus acidic cleaners can etch a Cambria surface faster than homeowners expect. We talk about care and finish protection before we install, not after the damage shows up.
  • Chipped edges at sink cutouts and overhang ends. Thin edge profiles over unsupported cabinet runs on soft-story ground floors flex. The building moves, the cabinet dips, and the quartz takes the stress at its weakest point. We reinforce sink cutouts and overhangs where the framing shows any sign of movement.
  • Fabrication shortcuts from other installers. Bad dry-lay seams, mismatched veining, silicone-only joints that telegraph once cabinets settle. We see these on Mission remodels regularly. The fix usually means re-templating, which is exactly what we do.
  • Cambria tops still sound but the cabinets underneath have failed. That’s a repair-and-reset job, not a full replacement. We’ll tell you plainly if the slab can be saved and re-set on leveled cabinets, and we’ll also tell you honestly when replacement is the smarter call.

Cambria Service in Mission District: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment

Here’s what you won’t read on a generic Cambria page. The Mission District’s mandatory soft-story retrofit ordinance applies to many of the two- and three-flat wood-frame buildings that dominate 94110. That ordinance requires ground-floor framing to be opened up, reinforced, and re-sheathed. A lot of those same buildings are getting kitchen remodels at the same time, because once the first floor is opened anyway, the timing makes sense. But quartz templates taken before the retrofit can shift once the building is re-leveled. We’ve seen slabs templated to old cabinet heights that no longer matched after the seismic work was finished. So we always re-check cabinet elevation after any retrofit before cutting, and we shim and re-set bases when the framing comes out a half-inch out of level. We’ve also handled Cambria repair in Noe Valley and similar jobs throughout the city. On a three-flat off Valencia, we templated Cambria Britannica for a kitchen island and perimeter, then found the soft-story retrofit had left the ground-floor framing a half-inch out of level under the cabinets. We shimmed and re-set the bases, dry-laid the island slab to book-match the veining, and cut the sink opening with a reinforced edge so the overhang wouldn’t flex once the building settled. The client got tight seams and a counter that reads as one continuous piece. That’s not luck. That’s sequencing the template after the structural work, not before it.

Cambria Models & Products We Service in Mission District

We work with the full Cambria line, including the designs we see most often in Mission District kitchens and baths. Cambria Ella gives a warm marble look that holds its own in Victorian interiors without the maintenance of actual marble. Cambria Brittanicca has the bold gray-gold veining that reads well in larger kitchens and islands. Cambria Torquay brings a softer gray-green movement that works in Mission bathrooms where the light is more indirect. Cambria Colton is a crisp white with fine gray veining that fits the clean, modern remodels happening throughout the neighborhood.

We template from actual cabinets, never from drawings. We use fabricator-grade adhesives and proper edge profiles rather than silicone-only seams. When a Cambria top is sound but the substrate or cabinetry has failed, we repair and re-set. We don’t stock slabs in the Mission District itself, but our fabricator relationships keep turnaround tight for most 94110 projects. We also provide Chinatown Cambria service and cover surrounding areas.

Cambria Service Pricing in Mission District

Service Typical Range
Countertop Installation (Cambria quartz) $2,000 – $6,500
Kitchen Island Installation $3,000 – $10,000
Backsplash Installation $800 – $2,500
Cabinet Installation $4,000 – $13,000

Your final number depends on slab choice, edge profile, sink and cutout count, and whether the cabinets need leveling or repair before we template. A straight run of Cambria Colton on already-level cabinets costs less than book-matched Brittanicca with a waterfall island edge over a newly shimmed soft-story floor. A free estimate includes a look at the existing cabinets and framing so you know what you’re actually working with before any numbers go on paper. Call (855) 901-7266 and we’ll schedule a time to look.
